Following a competitive and carefully curated selection process, STEMAIDE Africa is proud to announce that it has been selected as one of the 12 outstanding EdTech startups in Ghana to participate in the 2025 Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship, implemented in partnership with MEST Africa. For us, this is not just a significant milestone in our journey; it’s a powerful affirmation of our vision to bridge the STEM education gap in underserved communities and equip Africa’s youth with the skills they need to thrive in a digital future. This recognition highlights our commitment to advancing STEM in Ghana and across Africa through scalable, technology-driven solutions.

The official launch of the Fellowship’s second cohort took place on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra. The event brought together key players from Ghana’s education, technology, and innovation ecosystems, including representatives from the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service (GES), Ghana Society for Education and Technology (GSET), and KOICA, as well as dignitaries such as HRM Prof. Nii Nortey Owuo IV, Osu Mantse, who emphasized the importance of African-led solutions and the role of local communities in shaping Africa’s future. This launch underscored the growing momentum around STEM in Ghana, where initiatives like ours are making real impact.

Organized by MEST Africa in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, the EdTech Fellowship is a transformative three-year long acceleration program. It is designed to support high-impact EdTech ventures across Africa with mentorship, funding, and specialized training in the science of learning. And is an opportunity for companies like ours to fine-tune our solutions, scale our solutions and address urgent educational challenges with sustainable, technology-driven innovations, particularly in the area of STEM in Ghana.

Why This Fellowship Matters to STEMAIDE Africa

At our core, STEMAIDE is about bridging Africa’s STEM education gap in a way that’s inclusive, practical, and future-oriented. Through our affordable, hands-on STEM kits, robotics tools, and teacher training programs, we bring science and technology to life for students and teachers who have often been left out of the digital revolution. These efforts are key drivers in improving STEM in Ghana, especially in underserved communities.

Our goal? To impact 1 million students by 2030, create 100,000 new jobs, and contribute meaningfully to Africa’s economic development, starting with the classroom. We believe every child deserves access to quality STEM education, no matter where they live. Our solutions are built to work in real classrooms, with real challenges, and to inspire the next generation of problem-solvers, creators, and innovators.

This Fellowship gives us a powerful platform to scale our impact and continue building solutions that not only educate, but also uplift and empower communities across Africa,” said Prince Boateng Asare, CEO and Co-founder at STEMAIDE Africa.

Breaking Barriers with Inclusive EdTech: Our Ongoing Commitment

During the launch of the second cohort of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship, one standout moment was the EdTech Mondays panel discussion on “Breaking Barriers: EdTech’s Role in Creating Inclusive Classrooms for All.” This powerful conversation brought together experts in education, technology, and special needs advocacy to explore how digital tools can make learning more accessible and inclusive for every student, no matter who they are or where they come from.

This message really hits home for us.

Our work is deeply rooted in the belief that inclusive education isn’t just a goal; it’s a necessity. That is why we proudly support initiatives like 100 million Coders, the Ghana Science and Tech Explorer Prize (GSTEP), and GI-KACE’s re/START program. Each of these programs aims to bridge the digital divide, help underserved youth learn valuable tech skills and prepare them for real opportunities in the digital world. These initiatives are critical steps toward a more inclusive and dynamic ecosystem for STEM in Ghana. Just like the panelists stressed, it is about more than just building apps or platforms, it is about designing with real people in mind, collaborating with educators and communities, and making sure every learner has the tools they need to succeed. We are committed to creating learning experiences that are not only innovative but equitable, accessible, and built for impact; granting every child a chance to learn, grow, and thrive.

What’s Ahead?

Over the upcoming months, our company will receive mentorship support, expert-led training, dive into training sessions on the science of learning, and gain access to resources that will help us strengthen our business model and scale effectively. We will also be collaborating with other brilliant EdTech ventures who, like us, are passionate about making education more accessible, inclusive, and impactful. These connections will allow us to accelerate our mission of transforming STEM in Ghana, one classroom at a time.

We are especially excited about the opportunity to contribute to national education goals by working alongside teachers, schools, and even government partners to integrate STEM learning more effectively into everyday education. Being part of this Fellowship is a responsibility we embrace fully. It means asking harder questions, listening more closely to our communities, and staying focused on the real impact of what we build. We are incredibly grateful to the Mastercard Foundation and MEST Africa for creating a platform that amplifies African innovation and invests in education that truly makes a difference.

As we move forward, we will continue to share our progress, insights, and milestones. Whether you are a parent, educator, student, policymaker, or partner, thank you for believing in our journey. The future of learning in Africa is already unfolding. And at STEMAIDE Africa, we are proud to be part of building that future—one student, one classroom, and one idea at a time.
